Audio source

File, mic, queue, transport, BPM, and band ranges.

The picture follows the mix. Load a file or open a mic. Analysis stays on this machine.

Open the source dialog

Click the source button in the top bar. Or click Choose source on the empty-stage overlay.

File

  1. Click File or Add files.
  2. Pick one or more audio files.
  3. Select a row in Queue to make it the active track.
  4. Remove a row when you do not need it.

The audio queue holds up to 32 files. A file over 1 GiB is skipped.

Drop audio on the desk. The same queue receives it.

Mic

  1. Click Mic.
  2. Grant the browser microphone permission.
  3. Use Input to pick a device.

Mic audio drives the picture. It does not play through the speakers. The console never writes mic audio into a video export.

A stored mic device id restores on the next session. Mic restore does not block the boot overlay.

Use as media

On a video file, Use as media / Used as media sends the picture of that file to the media plate. One decode serves both the mix and the plate.

The playhead is hidden on mic.

BPM

The BPM field shows estimated tempo from bass-gated onsets. Type a value to lock tempo. Clear the field to return to auto tempo. Tap sets tempo from your taps.

Manual or tap tempo writes the Tempo signal that modulation and looks can read.

Signal bands

Seven meters sit in the top bar: Sub, Bass, L-Mid, Mid, H-Mid, High, Air. A Beat dot and an Rms bar sit with them.

Click the meters to open Edit audio band ranges. Drag the Hz edges. Each band is a mean FFT magnitude in that range, auto-gained and enveloped.

These bands also appear as audio inputs on modulation and on look Audio influence.

What persists

The session stores source kind, track index, loop, volume, mic device id, BPM, band ranges, response, smoothness, beat, and response curves.
